Welcome to Tara, the horse farm for mindfulness & communication
Welcome to the Tara Ranch! Between the ocean and the desert lies the horse and animal farm ‘Granja Tara’ on the west coast of Fuerteventura, close to the beautiful beaches of El Cotillo.
Every animal on our farm has its own story, which we will be happy to tell you over a coffee.
Surrounded by nature, you are welcome to take part in a horse ride or one of our half-day programmes on offer, or, true to the motto ‘a home without animals is like heaven without stars’, you can spend your holiday with us. Either way, you will have a fantastic time at Tara Ranch. We offer comfortable accommodation, with or without an activity programme. Riding Tours in Small Groups
Experience Fuerteventura from a truly special perspective on horseback. From our ranch in El Roque, our rides take you through the vast, peaceful landscapes around El Cotillo, past dramatic cliffs and ever-changing views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island’s natural beauty.
We ride daily (except Sundays) in the evening at sunset. The approximately two-hour tours are suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. In small groups, we enjoy nature together, the connection with the horses, and the unique atmosphere of the island.

Our exclusive VIP rides take you along spectacular cliffs, through wild barrancos, and into the fascinating mountain landscapes of Fuerteventura, accompanied by stunning Atlantic views and unforgettable moments of complete tranquility.
Upon arrival, you will meet your horse, groom it, and prepare it together with us for the ride a special moment to build trust and feel the connection with your horse.
Whether you are looking for a relaxed sunset ride, a romantic date experience, or an adventurous excursion for more confident riders who want to explore nature more intensely, our VIP tours are designed individually and personally. Beginners are also warmly welcome and will be guided with care, so everyone can enjoy the ride at their own pace.
Along the way, you can expect breathtaking panoramic trails along the cliffs, hidden natural paths, and the untouched beauty of Fuerteventura.
After the ride, unwind with drinks and small snacks while ending the day with the feeling of having experienced something truly unique.
Half-Day Rides Including Picnic
For those who want to immerse themselves even deeper in the landscapes of Fuerteventura, we offer longer half-day rides. Together with our horses, we ride out into the island’s wide-open nature along the rugged cliffs or up into the peaceful mountains of the interior.
During the tour, we stop at a particularly beautiful spot and enjoy a small picnic overlooking the ocean or the vast volcanic landscape. These rides last several hours and offer plenty of time to fully experience the scenery, the horses, and the extraordinary calm of the islan
Mindfulness with horses
Mindfulness course: Arrive in the here and now
In this 2-hour course, you create a space for presence – an island beyond right and wrong. Consciously experiencing the present moment creates a deep connection to yourself and to others, supported by encounters with horses. Without judgement, you perceive what is present within you and open up to your own feelings and needs. Individual life situations, questions and problems can be addressed. This creates a path to greater clarity, inner peace and authentic connection.
Your Holiday Home at the Stables
Our small farm is an oasis by the sea!
The typical Canarian house has been lovingly restored by us and is very cosy. The beach and the fishing village are a 10 minute walk away.
The location and the sea view, the peace and quiet and the many animals on the finca make for a great holiday feeling.
The house with its 2 bedrooms offers space for 4 people and all windows offer great views of the sea. The terrace and the large garden invite you to barbecue or just relax.

Hello, I am Apache.
Until recently, I was the boss of the herd. Now I am in well-deserved retirement and leave the leadership to the newcomers. My best friend is little Mozart, who even happens to look like me, only a size smaller. I even share my food with him. I live together with my friend Diva on a pasture. I am very cuddly and love attention of any kind, petting and treats anyway. Sometimes I don’t feel like working and prefer to stay with my friends, but then I show it. I am also very good at other things. For example, I know how to roll under the fence to get an extra portion of food or two. Fortunately, no one can be angry with me, because I’m so cute.

Hello, I am Guajiro.
Together with my Hafis girls I keep Fanny on her toes. We are masters at running away and like to say hello to the others. I would do almost anything for food and treats, so you always have to keep a close eye on your fingers with me. I am happy when I am allowed on outings, sometimes you have to slow me down a bit in my energy. I have very comfortable gaits, so the girls who know me sometimes ride me bareback. In winter I look like a polar bear and get a lot of fluffy fur.

I may be small and cute, but I’m a real fox. I like to break out sometimes and create a bit of a mood, but I only let myself be caught after I’ve eaten a good portion of muesli. You might not be able to tell by looking at me, but I am very athletic and can jump quite well. I am also very patient and like to work when I feel like it.

I get on well with everyone on the farm. Mainly I want to eat and lots of cuddles. I am very patient, so I am the children’s pony. I let myself be groomed for hours and enjoy the attention and carry the little ones around the yard afterwards. You can even harness me to the carriage, because I am quite strong.

I came here together with my friend Guajira. I still find it a bit difficult to share with my colleagues, as we didn’t always have enough food where we were before. That’s why I can’t take a joke at feeding times and sometimes forget that I am a small Shetty and defend my food like a big one. With my humans I am sweet and cuddly.

My best friend is little Kaifax. I came here with him from Tenerife. Finally I can eat as much as I want! Just like Kaifax, I don’t have any fun sharing food and I still have to learn a bit of manners. I’m already making great progress on the field and am always very happy when my humans occupy themselves with me and teach me new things. My big dream is to be allowed to go on the great rides with my colleagues on a regular basis.

Now im to old for riding but when i was younger i had much Temperament.My favourite stable mates are casper and Helia; we look at each other and also scratch each other’s backs. But I also get along well with everyone else on the farm.

I am one thing above all, very clever and know exactly how to earn as many treats as possible. My favourite food is banana. I don’t like to be touched on the head, I didn’t have such good experiences in my previous life. I love our outings and I prefer to walk in front, after all I am the fastest. As a Spaniard, I have soft gaits as well as a bit of temperament and advanced riders have a lot of fun with me.

I stand together with Ana on the pasture, she is my friend and I am very unhappy when she goes for a walk alone and always wait impatiently for her return. Actually, I like all my colleagues very much, especially when Im together with Babetta and Helia. My great passion is food, I’m not fussy about that either, the main thing is lots of it. When I’m out and about, I’m a little dreamer and only work as much as is really necessary, unless we’re going to the beach, which I love.

We are Gloria, Sylvia and Daisy and live freely on the farm.
We don’t know any boundaries and we are not shy either. We like to sit with you on the sofa and have our backs stroked. We hide our eggs all over the yard, but our favourite place is by the banana trees. We also like to welcome new guests to the Tiny Houses and see what they look like when the door opens.

Hello, we are Roxy, Flocke, Erika and Karlchen.
We all came to the farm from different circumstances. When you come to visit Tara, we greet you right at the gate. Most of the time we stay in our own area, but we also like to go for a walk around the farm and check if everything is ok, or if maybe some green needs to be cut back somewhere. We like to accompany the people who distribute the food in the evening, because there is always an extra portion for us on the way.

Hello, we are Eddie, Pünktchen and Babe.
We are Ibero pigs. I, Eddie, was the last one to join the group. At that time I was still so small that I could be held in my arms and was allowed to walk freely in the yard. Now, as an adult, I am probably too big for that. The three of us eat pretty much anything. Only coffee and citrus fruits, we don’t like. We also like to be petted, but we prefer to lie in the mud, let the sun shine on our bellies and doze.

Hello, I’m Charly.
I found my place on the farm after one of the girls from the farm rescued my mum from the street. A few weeks later, my mum gave birth to lots of little surprises and I was one of them. Now I have a proper job: I welcome all the visitors and check with Emil that everything’s alright. I’ve also raised little Roca as her surrogate mum.

Hey, we’re the cats of the farm and we make sure everything runs the way we like it. Some of us wander around the farm or sit in the shade if it gets too warm, we’re definetly a lively crew. And we keep an eye on the farm. We look forward to saying hello to you!

Hello, I’m Omega!
I arrived at the farm in April 2024 and settled in quickly. I’m a purebred Pura Raza Española (PRE) – elegant, powerful and with the temperament of a true gentleman. I prefer to avoid conflict, as I enjoy harmony and getting on well with others.
With my energy, I usually lead the trail rides and love to show off what I can do. As a dressage horse, I’ve learnt a lot and love to prove my skills – you certainly won’t get bored on a trail ride with me! But as spirited as I am, I also enjoy quiet moments – especially when it comes to a bit of a stroke and some treats!
